Basic Laws of Human Stupidity

This is an extract from the book Basic laws of human stupidity by Carlo Maria Cipolla (1922-2000). He was an italian historic specialized in Economic History. He worked in Italy and in U.S.A.
In this book he deals with the human stupidity and he divides the humans in four categories: the Helpless, the Intelligent, the Bandit and the Stupid.
I reccomend to everyone to read it.  ES IST ZU KRASS!!!

the X axis shows the benefits of your actions for yourself
the Y axis shows the benefits of your actions for other people

first Law:
Always and inevitably everyone underestimates the number of stupid individuals in circulation.

second Law:
The probability that a certain person will be stupid is independent of any other characteristic of that person.

third Law:
A stupid person is a person who causes losses to another person or to a group of persons while himself deriving no gain and even possibly incurring losses.

fourth Law:
Non-stupid people always underestimate the damaging power of stupid individuals. In particular non-stupid people constantly forget that at all times and places and under any circumstances to deal and/or associate with stupid people always turns out to be a costly mistake.

fifth Law:
A stupid person is the most dangerous type of person.

The corollary of the fifth Law is that:
A stupid person is more dangerous than a bandit.

Marwitz

Marwitz it's a very special place near Berlin. In the little town, there is a group of farms, that sell the most incredible things that you can image. Pieces of the Mauer, tiles, forniture, doors......and all the stuff that come from the old Berlin, before and after the second world war, specially from the period where Germany was divided in two parts (I love DDR's stuff).
It's amazing, when you arrive you start to understand that you are not in a normal farm, and one of the first things that you can see is a huge fist (made by fiberglass) inside a square full of tiles. Really incredible, I never saw something like this, maybe only at the Emmaus Community near Pistoia, but believe me, is not the same....think how big could be Pistoia and how big could be Berlin....here is the difference, could you image how many million of stuff you can collect in a city that during the years have changed for a million times his conformation?!
Anyway, if you need something strange and old fashioned for your place in Berlin, that's the place where you must go!

A funny coincidence

Four years later Es receives the same Honour Mention at the same design prize which i did after my degree. The Lucky Strike Talented Design Award...WTF....the prize was 30.000 euros...both between the best design degrees of 2006 and 2010 in Italy, but also both really unlucky..so close to this amazing quantity of money..
Two innovative and technological ideas for a sustainable future.

Animal technologies: Flying without feathers

The nature is the biggest inspiration's box. Every form of life in nature has a particular skill without which it would be impossible to survive. This is the first post dedicated to the animal technologies. Since I was a child I was very attracted from the animals, every animal is special for a specific thing... sometimes I ask me why I didn't choose the Zoophilic studies.
The military research, where the governement invest more money than in other field, is often inspired and based on animal technologies..
Here we examine how different animals have developed flying skill, who with wings, who with special membrane and others also without all of them, just with movement of their body...

Projekt Galerie, settimana della moda ecc ecc

Maybe I am on that mag, but I really don't know if the necklace is real mine. We will see.
It's still quite hot, I'm very very happy.

Soon all on Etsy store, yesterday has been a funny day with Martino, the lasern cutter.

Today I discovered that I have a problem: I can not buy the most part of the discounted things...
aber warum???
Also at cos and also at all the nice shops in Mulackstraße (the reality is that I don't have money)...why exist this crazy period where the people can kill for a pair of socks? Only bullshit, I know that I'm a fucking victim.
Tomorrow evening Maria Francesca Pepe window installation at HBC. Ich gehe.

The abandonment map of Florence

Visualizza Mappa dell'abbandono a Firenze in una mappa di dimensioni maggiori

Florence is worldwide famous for its amazing history and for its architecture..and it's right..the city is wonderful!..completely boring, but wonderful..
the mentality of the typical inhabitant it's closed, definetly CLOSED: he thinks that Florence is the best city in the world and nobody should do anything to change it. It's like a painting..This is our biggest problem. the mentality.
To comeback an interesting city Florence should change for first its mentality, and then all the rest. Should find the courage to think we are in the XXI century and not five hundred years before...and do, do and still do!
The only thing the city does is to build a lot of new buildings, in the suburbs...amazing ugly architectures built with junk materials...an old italian story.

But, this year after almost 30, it's the first year I feel a willingness to change, to modernize and to think and design directly for the citizen! I feel good as never before and I have to thank this new administration and its fresh mentality.
The abandonment map made by :esibisco. is a way to show how many amazing buildings are left die instead to recover them or to give them a temporary destination, for young and creative people, homeless, families without an house..ecc
